StarzMeet (“StarzMeet”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with the website located at starzmeet.com and any related services (together, the “Site”), an online directory of autism-related services in Silicon Valley. It also explains the rights and choices available to you, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”).
By accessing or using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to information we collect through the Site, through email and other electronic communications between you and the Site, and from third-party sources as described below. It does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from the Site.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
2.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information — when you register, we collect your name, email address, username, and password.
- Listing and claim submissions — when you add or claim a provider listing, we collect the business information you submit, such as business name, address, phone number, email, website, operating hours, services, description, and images.
- Reviews and communications — ratings, reviews, replies, and enquiries you send through listing contact forms.
- Contact and support requests — your name, email address, and the contents of your message when you contact us.
- Correspondence — records and copies of your correspondence with us.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Usage data — pages and listings viewed, search terms, links clicked, referring pages, and dates/times of access.
- Device and connection data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, and language settings.
- Approximate location — a general location derived from your IP address, and, only with your explicit permission, a more precise location from your device (used for the “providers near you” feature).
- Cookies and similar technologies — as described in Section 6.
2.3 Information from public and third-party sources
Many provider listings are compiled from publicly available business information (such as public business directories and mapping services). This information relates to businesses, not private individuals, and includes items like business name, address, phone number, website, and hours. We do not collect or publish personal information about individuals or children from these sources.
3. California “categories” of personal information
For purposes of the CCPA/CPRA, in the past 12 months we may have collected the following categories of personal information:
| Category | Examples | Collected |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email, username, IP address | Yes |
| Customer records | Contact details you provide | Yes |
| Internet/network activity | Browsing and usage data on the Site | Yes |
| Geolocation data | Approximate or (with permission) precise location | Yes |
| Commercial information | Listings claimed, transactions (if any) | Yes |
| Sensitive personal information | We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information | No |
4. Sources of information
We collect information directly from you; automatically as you use the Site; and from publicly available sources and service providers (such as mapping and analytics services).
5. How and why we use information
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and directory.
- To display listings and help families find and contact providers.
- To create and manage your account and process claims.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- To send administrative and service-related communications (for example, account, listing, claim, and review notifications).
- To understand how the Site is used and to develop new features and content.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
6. Cookies and tracking technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure traffic and usage, and improve the Site. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent; if you disable cookies, some parts of the Site may not function properly.
Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC). Because we do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law, our practices do not change based on these signals; however, we honor valid opt-out preference signals to the extent required by law.
7. How we disclose information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We disclose information only as follows:
- Service providers — vendors who perform services for us (hosting, email delivery, analytics, maps, security) and are contractually limited to using the information only to provide those services.
- Public content — information you choose to make public, such as a review you post or a provider listing you claim.
- Legal and safety — when we believe disclosure is required by law, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of StarzMeet, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
8. Third-party services
The Site uses third-party services, which may include Google Maps (mapping and location), web analytics, hosting, and email delivery providers. These services process data under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.
9. Provider listings compiled from public sources
To provide a useful directory from day one, we compile certain listings from publicly available business information. We publish business contact details only. If you are a provider, you may claim, correct, or request removal of your listing at any time, and we will act on verified requests promptly.
10. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights, subject to legal exceptions:
- Right to know / access — to request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it.
- Right to delete — to request deletion of personal information we collected from you.
- Right to correct — to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale/sharing — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of; if this ever changes, we will provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” mechanism.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights.
11. How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of these rights, email info@starzmeet.com with the details of your request. To protect your information, we will take steps to verify your identity before responding, which may include confirming information associated with your account or request. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide proof of authorization and may require you to verify your identity directly with us.
“Shine the Light” (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
12. Other US state privacy rights
Residents of certain other states may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of their personal information. To exercise any such rights, contact us at info@starzmeet.com.
13. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, after which we delete or de-identify it.
14. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for parents, caregivers, and adults, and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we never ask for or collect information about a specific child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
16. International visitors
The Site is operated in the United States. If you access it from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
17. Third-party links
The Site contains links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties, and this policy does not apply to them.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
